Hocker is an internationally recognized, award-winning landscape architecture studio based in Texas.
Widely known for creating meaningful spaces with meticulous detail, material comprehension, and context, the team at Hocker came to ModestWorks looking for a way to extend their approach to the brand’s visual identity and digital footprint. We were asked to audit their existing identity and to evolve the brand in ways that would align with their studio’s design ethos.

We renamed the firm to maintain the recognition of their founder, David Hocker, while allowing them to extend their reach beyond a single creator. The result is a set of guiding values, visual identity, and brand language that connect deeply to the thoughtful approach and restraint for which Hocker is known.

We teamed up with David Hocker to edit and design their first monograph under the Monacelli imprint. Hocker: 2005–2020 Landscapes explores the principles that drive the practice and underpin their unique and strikingly contemporary aesthetic through distinctive projects across a range of typologies.
